Freezer Paper

Create Freezer Paper Stencils For Interesting Gift Ideas

Freezer paper makes a great way to create stencils for decorating a wide range of fabrics.  The most popular is using it to design t-shirts, and many people enjoy the fact it is an inexpensive and easy way to create a unique and special gift.  Not to mention it is fun, and safe for all ages to enjoy doing.

For the most part, people hate getting clothes as gifts.  However, designing custom shirts is a great way to surprise someone special while offering something unique and memorable.  Do you know anyone who is a big sports fan who would love a shirt with their favorite team’s logo on it?  Perhaps you work with kids or seniors and are looking for a fun and easy way to get people involved in a fun and safe craft activity.  The possibilities are endless, and using freezer paper to design t-shirts is a great and affordable way to turn ordinary fabric into something that stands out and looks great.

Freezer paper is ideal for these types of projects because of their ability to melt and blend with a wide range of fabrics.  In addition, because they are so readily available, from grocery stores to craft supply centers, they are very affordable as well.  Using it is also very easy, and it only takes a couple of minutes to have perfectly stenciled fabric that is ready to paint and wear.

The first step is to find the design you want to cut out, and you can simply go online and find what you are looking for and print it out.  You may have to zoom in or out to change the size of the image to fit the fabric you are looking to stencil, but that’s about it.  Once the stencils are printed out, lay them on the freezer paper (the rough paper side should be facing up and the plastic side facing down) and begin to trace.

Once you have your stencil traced on the freezer paper, all you have to do is simply cut out the stencil.  After this you are ready to iron it onto your fabric.  You will need a second sheet of paper to lay underneath the fabric and this piece should have the plastic side facing up.  Then you lay the stencil sheet on top of the fabric.  Don’t use an iron that is too hot otherwise you will burn the fabric, and once you do iron the pieces together it should only take from about 30 seconds to a minute.

That’s it.  All that you have left to do is color in the stencil using a screen printing or other fabric paint to color the design and let it dry.  It is that simple, and the things you can do with this method are limitless.  If you are looking for an affordable and easy way to do something different, using freezer paper to design awesome logos on t-shirts or other fabric is a great alternative to buying something new and impersonal.
